Marin Summer Yeshiva 2026

              Curriculum

Chassidut for Life  (Rabbi Rice)
Chassidut for Life is a practical, heart-centered journey into the core teachings of Chassidic thought and how they illuminate everyday living. Through accessible study of classic texts (like the Tanya and other Hasidic masters), guided reflection, and lively discussion, the course translates deep ideas—Divine providence, inner joy, purpose, and humility—into concrete tools for resilience, relationships, and self-mastery. Students learn methods of mindful awareness and meditative contemplation (hitbonenut), explore the soul’s dynamics, and cultivate character traits that elevate work, family, and community life.

The JLI  Sinai & Civics: The Jewish ethics that shaped America’s founding  (Rabbi Rice)

In time for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, this three-session course reflects on the Jewish ethics, ideas, and values that inspired and influenced America’s founders—and that still shape our government and society today. Was it always self-evident that all people are “created equal”? What is the “pursuit of happiness”? What inspired America’s system of checks and balances? And looking ahead, what steps can we take to build a just and united future?

Reimagining Humanity: The Torah's perspective on Artificial Intelligence (AI), human purpose, and the road to Redemption (Rabbi  Avrohom Jacks)

Explore how classic and contemporary Torah sources frame artificial intelligence, human creativity, and moral agency on the road to Redemption. This discussion-based class examines image-of-God dignity, free will, and responsibility alongside halachic and ethical questions raised by AI. We’ll consider technology as a partner or rival in human purpose, weigh risks and opportunities, and map a redemptive vision that channels innovation toward justice, compassion, and deeper connection with the Divine. Open to all backgrounds; no technical expertise required. (Thank you AI for this lesson description.)

Brighter than Hate  (Rabbi  Avrohom Jacks)

Brighter Than Hate offers a clear, actionable seven-point roadmap to counter modern antisemitism online and offline. This lesson will uncover the most important modern battlefield – our very own mind. And how, through positive rewiring, we can chase away the darkness of the world with the greatest light that at our disposal.

Peer Study:  The Backbone of Yeshiva

Peer Study is a chavruta-style session that taps the Torah’s vision of learning as a shared, life-giving pursuit. “Acquire for yourself a friend” (Pirkei Avot) and “Iron sharpens iron” (Proverbs 27:17) capture how dialogue refines thinking, deepens understanding, and strengthens character. Through questioning, listening, and respectful challenge, partners uncover nuance, translate ideas into practice, and build emotional resilience and humility. The result is growth that is both intellectual and soulful—wisdom learned together becomes wisdom lived.
